Each painted piece is carved by hand. A pyrograph tool is then used to give texture to feathers. Finally the piece is carefully painted with acrylic watercolour.

Peregrines are large and powerful falcons. With long, broad, pointed wings and a relatively short tail and a finely spotted breast. It is stunningly swift and agile in flight. The strongholds of the breeding birds in the UK are the uplands of the north and west and rocky seacoasts.

The swift is a medium-sized aerial bird, which is a superb flier. It evens sleeps on the wing. It is plain sooty brown, but in flight against the sky it appears black. It has long, scythe-like wings and a short, forked tail.
