Each painted piece is carved by hand. A pyrograph tool is then used to give texture to feathers. Finally the piece is carefully painted with acrylic watercolour.

Peregrines are large and powerful falcons. With long, broad, pointed wings and a relatively short tail and a finely spotted breast. It is stunningly swift and agile in flight. The strongholds of the breeding birds in the UK are the uplands of the north and west and rocky seacoasts.

Slightly smaller and slimmer than a blackbird - male ring ouzels are particularly distinctive with their black plumage with a pale wing panel and striking white breast band. The ring ouzel is primarily a bird of the uplands, where it breeds mainly in steep sided valleys, crags and gullies, from near sea level in the far north of Scotland up to 1,200m in the Cairngorms.
